Starting from this authentic Ardèche village, walk along the Duzon river lined with centuries-old bridges, then explore the wooded ridges offering splendid panoramic views of the village and surrounding mountains.
Description
- Opposite the church, turn right and cross the road. The Village Follow signs for Saint-Romain de Lerps along the small road that descends and becomes a footpath.
- The Great Mill Take the descent and cross the small bridge over the Duzon river next to the mill. Continue past the mill and leave the tarmac road via the footpath on the left.
- Roman Bridge The 500-metre descent leads to this ruin, which you must visit on your way back. Caution! Do not get too close to the bridge: falling rocks possible + DO NOT CLIMB ON THE BRIDGE! On your way back, turn left towards Saint Romain de Lerps. Cross the hamlet of "La Cabane".
- After crossing the D219, climb up to the hamlet of Saint Martin de Galéjas. You can collect the key to the chapel from the farm opposite if it is closed. Saint Martin de Galéjas Turn right behind the chapel, where the road becomes a path.
- Blanc Cross the hamlet, continuing straight ahead. The path winds through the forest. When you leave the forest, head for the farm below on the right. There is a beautiful view of the village before you cross the hamlet of Charratier.
- Charratier Take the path on the right to return to the village of Saint Sylvestre. The path joins the D219. Turn left until you reach the Gournier bridge and cross it.
- Gournier bridge Turn immediately right until you reach the Grand Moulin signpost and climb back up to the village via the same path you took on the way there.
